I almost went into the army. Passed the test with high scores, ok on the physical, but when it came time for the drug test.... How the hell and I supposed to piss in a cup with this HUGE black guy looking over my shoulder saying "you gunna piss in that cup boy??" The guy was bigger than most football players or wrestlers. All that coffee and water for nothing... At least I got free Arbys out of it for lunch.

Overall, this was brilliant. I worked for Col Shinseki when he was a Brigade Commander, and I admired him. He was smart, gentlemanly, and willing to listen to his subordinates. We liked him. BUT as Chief of Staff, he decided to right what he perceived as a wrong. His background was in the "Cav", who in the 70's had taken to wearing black berets. Now, the Army Rangers had been wearing black berets since the Korean War (since 1954, not 1979), and all through Vietnam (to signify their night-oriented operations). So when the Ranger Battalions were formed, the Cav was told to take off their black berets, which incensed Shinseki. As Chief of Staff, he gave the Cav (and the entire Army) back their black berets and told the Rangers to wear tan berets (supposedly to recognize their part in Desert Storm). The entire Army was represented in Desert Storm. Wouldn't it have made more sense to put THEM in the tan berets? Not to Shinseki. It was the worst move of any CSA since WW2.

If they're not getting intercepted by US or Canadian fighters of the Bearing, they're getting intercepted by RAF or Norwegian fighters over the North Sea. Standard Ruskie operations.

Being frank, HSD’s are an inefficient way of measuring someone’s basic intelligence. I didn’t pass high school. I am excellent at mathematics, science and English. I had ADHD as a child, which made classroom focus for me rather difficult. I’m now a Risk Manager and Data analyst earning well into a 6 figure salary, have a Masters Degree in Business Administration and a Diploma in Paralegal Studies.

Last I checked which was a long time ago it depended on what you were joining for/as. Some things just needed your grade 10. Others your HSD/GED. Others a completed degree or trade.
